Community-Led Solutions for Empowerment & Equality

At Tranz Bureau Initiatives Uganda (TBIU), our programs are designed to break down systemic barriers and create direct, lasting impact for transwomen and gender-diverse individuals.

Through grassroots advocacy, economic independence, healthcare linkages, and institutional capacity building, we empower our community to lead full, dignified, and secure lives.

Legal & Policy Advocacy

Advocating for human rights and challenging laws and policies that impede health access and legal protection for transwomen and key populations.

Key Activities: Human rights documentation, legal literacy workshops, policy research, and legal defense referrals.

Economic Empowerment

Building financial independence and welfare within the trans community through entrepreneurship skills and financial resources.

Key Activities: Business and vocational training, toolkits, grants, micro-loans, and economic development facilities.

Health Services & SRHR

Ensuring stigma-free access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services, HIV prevention, and wellness support

Key Activities: Distribution of essential health supplies, peer health education, non-judgmental healthcare referrals, and HIV prevention campaigns.

Capacity Building & M&E

Strengthening TBIU and its membership network to plan, manage, and execute strategic community initiatives.

Key Activities: Leadership development, organizational governance, monitoring and evaluation, and community-led mobilization

Our Program Impact

A Stigma-Free Future for Transwomen in Uganda

Operating primarily across Kampala and Wakiso districts, TBIU directly serves registered members and the broader community of transwomen and trans sex workers.

We implore holistic, ground-level strategies to ensure that every individual we reach gains the tools, health access, and legal literacy needed to thrive without fear of criminalization or discrimination.
