Where it all began

Who we are?

TBIU was formed in 2011 by Beyonce Karungi a trans woman and activist to fight for recognition, respect and protection of trans women and trans sex workers human rights. TBIU strives to create space for trans women  and trans sex workers to speak out and demand for their human rights in Uganda’s gender emancipation and feminist movement TBIU seeks to address issues preventing trans women from fully enjoying their human rights like the rest of the population among which include but not limited to; health, legal, economic, gender and social rights .
